Perfume Bottle Design

Perfume bottle design and production process
1.Cutting, grinding, engraving with diamond, carbide or silicon carbide tools, steel grinding wheels, can achieve different forms of mechanical processing of glass. For crystalline glass bottles used to hold high-grade perfumes, the glass bottles are cut, ground or engraved with a grinding wheel. The glass surface after high fine grinding can achieve a very high finish, with the help of different angles and planes, under the irradiation of the light with a high refractive index of crystalline glass surface will produce similar to aluminum and crystal lighting pieces of dispersion effect, colorful, dazzling, very attractive.

2. Acid polishing Acid polishing is the opposite of the purpose of acid etching, it makes the product produce a smooth and transparent surface. When making deep flower crystal glass bottles (or other glass products), acid polishing is often used to remove the opaque surface left by the carving, and achieve a high-quality smooth surface. For lead-free glass, a corrosion solution consisting of 1 part concentrated hydrofluoric acid (volume ratio, the same below), 2.5 parts concentrated sulfuric acid and 0.5 parts fuming nitric acid can be used. For lead crystal glass, it can be treated with a solution consisting of 1 part concentrated hydrofluoric acid, 1 part concentrated sulfuric acid and 0.5 part fuming nitric acid. In production practice, glass shows broad adaptability to the formulation of “acid solution”. That is to say, sometimes there is a great difference between formulations, but satisfactory treatment results can be obtained. In the production process of acid etching and acid polishing, the etching fluid is made of containers made of lead, rubber, polybutene and other materials. Because the acid etching fluid is strongly corrosive to human skin, the operator must wear rubber gloves. The treatment workshop should have an exhaust device, and the waste liquid should be neutralized with lime water.

3.Sanding transparent glass can be treated with sanding to create a hazy light effect. There is no doubting the character charm of obscurity. As a light effect, the boundary of the object is no longer clear, and it is easy to blend. This light effect is diffuse, soft and feminine. Vagueness has a vague, implicit and even mysterious feeling, which can stimulate people’s rich imagination. Common glass surface sanding techniques include sandblasting and acid etching. Sandblasting is a high-speed air driven silica sand or alumina grinding agent to abrade the surface of the glass, so as to achieve the effect of sand coating. The parts of the glass surface that do not need to be abraded can be covered by rubber sheets. Because the surface formed after sandblasting is rougher than the surface of acid etching, and there is noise and dust generated during the implementation of sandblasting, acid etching is more commonly used in the actual sanding treatment of perfume bottles. The acid etching method is to dip the glass bottle into a hydrofluoric acid solution (the parts that do not want to be treated can be coated with paraffin). The erosion rate and final appearance of the glass surface depend on the composition of the acid, the time and temperature of the treatment process, in order to achieve the desired surface effect of the designer.

4.The perfume bottle produced by the method of nesting sets of materials has been around for ages, but it is still one of the decoration methods of modern perfume bottles. The glass of more than two colors is made into perfume bottles by the method of producing nesting vases or wine sets, which also has a unique decorative effect. Its process is divided into two kinds of inner sleeve and outer coat. Some nesting bottles are also carted after forming, and the finished products have practical value and can also be displayed as handicrafts. In the actual visible products, the color material is drawn into a thin wire, in a spiral around the bottle body, because the glass wire winding is handmade, each product is different, highlighting the unique charm of each product.

5.Color glaze decoration Color glaze decoration is the most widely used method in glass decoration, and glass perfume bottles are no exception. The most commonly used glaze decoration methods are direct screen printing method and decal method. Secondary decorative processes include offset printing and hand brushing. The spraying method is to spray the opaque glaze on the surface of the transparent glass bottle, and achieve the effect of opacification or frosting after baking. The glaze used to decorate glass bottles is composite lead borosilicate glass with a very low softening point. According to the need, various colors of inorganic heat stable color can also be added. In order not to affect the surface effect of the parts that do not need decoration, and in order to obtain a smooth colored glaze surface below the softening point of the glass of the bottle base, a low melting point transparent coflux with a high lead oxide composition is used.
